Eleanor Sobel (D-FL born February 11, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York) served as a State Representative in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 until 2006.
She graduated with a B.A. in History from Brooklyn College in 1967, with an M.A. from City University of New York in 1968, and with an M.A. from Columbia University in 1975.
She moved to Florida in 1976 and was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1998 as a Democrat representing the 99th State House District in Broward County. Eleanor Sobel was reelected each term subsequently. Representative Sobel was term limited in November 2006, after serving eight years.
On January 20, 2006, Representative Sobel filed to run for the Florida Senate, District 31. Florida Senate District 31 encompasses all or parts of Cooper City, Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Plantation and Sunrise.
